John Wayne Gacy's Childhood Home
John wayne Gacy, one of the most notorious serial killers in American history, was born on March 17, 1942, and raised in his family home at this address. Between 1972 and 1978, he raped and murdered 33 teenage boys and young men. He stuffed at least 26 of his victims's corpses into the crawlspace of his home, buried three others elswhere on his property, and disposed of yet four others by tossing them off the bridge where Interstate-55 crosses the Des Plaines River. He was well-known for dressing up as "Pogo The Clown" and was very active in community organizations. He was arrested on the morning of December 22, 1978, brought to trial on February 6, 1980, convicted on all 33 counts of murder on March 12, 1980, sentenced to death the following day, and executed by lethal injection at Stateville Correctional Center on May 10, 1994.
