stuart school of business

the stuart school of business, an academic unit of the illinois institute of technology, was founded in 1969 and today offers graduate, masters, and doctoral degrees to nearly 800 students.  located at 565 w. adams in the same building as the institute's chicago-kent law school, the stuart school of business operates right in the heart of the city, on the western edge of chicago's loop neighborhood.  commuting is a cinch, as the el trains pass within a few blocks of the school, the metra rail station is just a few blocks north, and passenger rail trains enter and exit the city at the adjacent union station.  in addition, a shuttle bus connects the business school with the main campus, which is three miles south of the loop.

until recently, the loop consisted overwhelmingly of office buildings and all but went dark at the close of business.  today, new construction condominium towers, condominium conversions, and other adaptive reuse projects have attracted a growing number of residents to the neighborhood.  the state street revival is now in full swing, and millennium park, particularly in the summer, is drawing a sea of humanity for recreation, dining, and entertainment.  the art institute of chicago, already the second largest art museum in the country, recently grew even bigger with the opening of the modern wing, and the jay pritzker pavillion across the street is an outdoor concert venue of staggering beauty, thanks to the architectural talents of frank gehry.  just a block away, macy's, loehmann's, and old navy are among the growing number of retailers setting up shop in the neighborhood.
