university of chicago - streeterville

the university of chicago graduate school of business, known as chicago booth, has two campuses in the city -- one in the hyde park neighborhood and one in the streeterville neighborhood.  the streeterville campus can be found at the gleacher center, which overlooks the chicago river, just east of the michigan avenue bridge, between the tribune tower and the nbc tower.  the gleacher center caters to candidates in the "executive mba," evening mba, and weekend mba programs.  it's a thoroughly modern and impressive building, with an excellent conference center, well-equipped classrooms, spacious reception areas, and first-class catering.

streeterville encompasses a giant swath of territory between the southern half of the "magnificent mile" and the shores of lake michigan.  it's city living, pure and simple.  the housing stock in the southern half of neighborhood generally consists of high-rise and mid-rise condominium and apartment buildings, many of recent vintage.  thanks to prevailing economic conditions, more than a few fantastic new luxury condominium units with top-of-the-line finishes and outstanding city views are available for rent.  the northern half of streeterville is dominated by northwestern memorial hospital, northwestern law school, and a sea of doctor's offices, health clinics, and rehabilitation centers.  there is little housing in this area.

in south streeterville, the shopping ranges from the upscale to the ritzy, and the restaurants range from fast food to casual dining to steak houses to haute cuisine.  not far from the gleacher center, residents enjoy a 21-screen multiplex, several health clubs, an ultra-modern bowling alley, and plenty of gourmet grocery stores.
