The Diner Grill
Considered one of Chicago's seminal greasy spoon restaurants, the 24-hour Diner Grill has been serving hungry locals since 1937. Born from an Evanston trolley car mash-up, this still-thriving relic from days gone by is a classic display of Americana. It's famous for the "slinger," which (for all of $7.00) includes a heaping, oval-shaped plate stacked with mounds of hash browns and grilled onions, two cheeseburgers, two eggs sunnyside up, chili, and toast. Diners who polish the whole thing off are rewarded with a special certificate.
