Find Apartments in Chicago’s South side

South Side

More than half of Chicago’s territory is located in the South Side region, and the influence on Chicago’s culture resonates strongly from this side of town. The neighborhoods on the South Side have varied and interesting histories. Among the historic South Side communities you’ll find a former waterfront retreat for Chicago’s elite; working-class enclaves built by immigrants during the 19th century; a land grant that sprouted into a world-renowned university; and a neighborhood that became a hotbed of music, art and African American culture in the wake of the Great Migration of the early 20th century.

The South Side is accessible by the Red and Green Line trains, the I-90 expressway, and Lake Shore Drive is another conduit for commuters to get to the heart of downtown Chicago.
