Coletti's

Formerly known as "El Centro," Coletti's has been dishing out Italian favorites since 1946.  The menu is extensive, but the restaurant is perhaps best known for its barbeque ribs and its thin crust pizza.  Now in its fourth generation of family ownership, Coletti's has grown to include a catering operation and specializes in banquets serving 25 to 100 people at 5707 North Central Avenue.

The Oscar Statuette

Every year, the American Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences hands out a series of awards (unofficially known as “Oscars”) to recognize and honor excellence in five different divisions of the film industry.  The Oscar statuette, which has was born in 1929, is perhaps the most recognizable trophy in American culture.  Designed by Los Angeles sculptor George Stanley, it depicts a knight with a sword standing on a reel of film.  Since 1982, the Oscar statuette has been manufactured at 5535 North Lynch Avenue in Chicago.  Between 1982 and late 2012, the work was performed by R. S. Owens & Company.  In late 2012, however, R.S. Owens was acquired by St. Regis Crystal of Indianapolis, which promptly laid off one-third of the staff.  Today, the facility continues to churn out trophies for all kinds of important organizations and events, including the Academy for Television Arts & Sciences (the "Emmy"), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the NASCAR Pepsi Max 400, the Cotton Bowl, and "American Idol"
