History in West Pullman

Harry Guzik, older brother of Jack “Greasy Thumb” Guzik (an associate and close friend of Al Capone) operated a brothel here at 119th Street and Paulina Street.

The city designated the Foster House and Stable a landmark on May 9, 1996.  Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Japanese-influenced house in 1900 for Stephen Foster, "an attorney who was a member of the real estate group that developed this portion of West Pullman," according to the city of chicago's official landmark website.
