Neighborhood Info: Evanston

1576 Oak Apartments is located in the Evanston neighborhood of Chicago.

First there was the medical genius Dr. Nathan S. Davis, who founded the American Medical Association (AMA) in 1847, following that up with the co-founding of Northwestern Medical School, to eventually become the first editor of Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA).

100+ years later, motion picture mastermind John Hughes cemented his place as a local legend, shooting a bevy of classic film scenes in and around Evanston, led by Major League, Uncle Buck and the classic coming-of-age movie, Sixteen Candles. Pretty cool.

So what other possible reasons would anyone want to stay in Evanston? Live here and you’ll discover many. Say… for example, at the corner of Davis and Oak. Where — above the street level flower shop, dry cleaner, yoga studio and women’s boutique — there are rental homes with large floor plans, new windows, hardwood floors, spacious closets and a modern kitchen  Topped off with creature comforts led by free heat, water, high speed Internet and satellite TV. Who knows, you may spot a celebrity.

Neighborhood Vibe

Apartments in Evanston let residents enjoy many of the same cultural highlights such as art, music and fine dining (with drinks, obviously) as their Chicago neighbors to the south.

What We Love Most

A typical Saturday for an apartment renter in Evanston might begin with a visit to the massive farmer’s market, followed by a jaunt to the shops in downtown Evanston. Next, they might choose to stay fit with an acrobatic exercise course in The Actor’s Gymnasium or go for a jog along the lakefront. They could wrap up their evening by screening a flick at the 18-screen movie theater near the Davis Metra stop or catch a live jazz set over dinner at legendary Pete Miller’s Steakhouse on Sherman Ave.

Best Way to Get Around

Apartments in Evanston are serviced by the CTA Purple Line, which runs rush hour trains to and from downtown Chicago. The Metra Union-Pacific North Line operates stops at Central, Davis and Main streets in Evanston, and CTA buses operate routes throughout the city as well as the suburban Pace bus.

Heart of the Neighborhood

Evanston has several pockets of happening retail, shopping and dining destinations, and these include the Davis Street "downtown" Evanston district; Central Street near the Metra station and Green Bay Road; and Main/Chicago to the south.
