In addition to Domu’s CTA advertising across Chicago, we help renters discover listings right where they live, by offering complimentary “For Rent” signs to landlords with active listings on Domu.
These signs are a simple but effective way to put your listing directly in front of local renters. They create real-world visibility on the block, catching the attention of people already exploring the neighborhood.
Even better: Domu handles the installation, and the service is completely free.
Why It’s a Win-Win
Adding a Domu “For Rent” sign gives your listing an extra layer of exposure with minimal effort:
- Reach Local Renters – Capture attention from people already walking the neighborhood who may not be actively searching online yet.
- Boost Visibility – Your listing shows up in two places: on Domu.com and directly on the street.
- Drive More Inquiries – Increased visibility leads to stronger interest and faster leasing outcomes.
Visibility That Works Year-Round
There’s no wrong season to put a sign up. Chicagoans are out in every kind of weather, walking to the L, grabbing coffee, running errands down the block, so a “For Rent” sign keeps your listing in front of local foot traffic all year. Renters tend to move in every season too, whether it’s a summer lease, a fall student turnover, a winter relocation, or a spring upgrade, which means a sign on the block is working for you no matter when your unit comes available.
How to Get a Sign
Getting a Domu “For Rent” sign is quick and straightforward. There are two easy ways to get one:
At checkout: When you list, check the box giving Domu permission to install a “For Rent” sign outside your property. No separate request needed.
By email: Already have an active listing? Email info@domu.com with:
- Property Address: The exact address for each listing that needs a sign
- Installation Preference: Your preferred setup (e.g., lawn stake or zip-tie to a fence). See examples below.
Either way, Domu coordinates everything, from delivery to installation, with no additional effort required on your end.
A couple of things worth knowing:
- Installation isn’t guaranteed. We install signage for most opted-in listings, but placement depends on the property. Buildings without a suitable fence, railing, or grassy area, exterior obstacles, and seasonal conditions (like frozen ground in winter) can all affect whether a sign can go up.
- Removal is the property owner’s responsibility. Once your unit is leased, taking the sign down is up to the owner.
Installation Options
Domu signs are flexible and can be installed in a way that best fits your property:
- Lawn Stake: A clean, stand-alone option for grassy areas or landscaped front yards.
- Zip Tie: Neatly fastened to a fence post or railing for high-visibility properties.
Whichever option you choose, a Domu “For Rent” sign helps your property stand out to renters walking, driving, or exploring the neighborhood, connecting your listing with the people most likely to live there.
