In general, Domu's data reflects the conventional wisdom that the farther 2 bedroom apartments are located from downtown Chicago, the less expensive they are. As expected, neighborhoods with new luxury apartments -- such as Streeterville, the New Eastside and River North -- are among Chicago’s priciest neighborhoods. The next most expensive apartment rental neighborhoods are located just outside the downtown area and include the West Loop, River West and the Near North Side.
With an average apartment rent of almost $3500 per month for 2 bedroom apartments, Streeterville is Chicago’s most expensive apartment neighborhood, while West Ridge is the most affordable at $1300 per month for 2 bedroom apartments.
